How to Market Your Business the Right Way

With the new and advanced digital world, there are so many ways to market your business now. However, it’s important to find the best techniques for you, and the things that will help your brand to strive and appeal to your ideal audience.

We’ve come up with a few key tips to make sure you’re marketing your business the right way…

 

1. KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE

Without knowing your audience, who they are, recognising patterns in their activity, and what their main qualities and interests are, there is no way you can market your business to them successfully. Before using any kind of marketing technique, you have to understand who you are pushing it out to, and what is going to grab their attention.

 

2. SIMPLIFY YOUR BRAND MESSAGE

Firstly, you need to establish exactly what your brand is about. What do you stand for? What are your main values? How do you connect with your customers, and what sort of experience do you aim to offer them? After deciding on all of this, TELL your audience. It’s important to have a clear and concise message, and not only this, you must be consistent with it and convey it on all platforms you use to advertise your business. Whether this is on your website, leaflets, social media, the message must remain the same throughout. This helps you to remain focused on achieving goals and also becomes clear to your audience what the business is about.

 

3. UNDERSTAND THE BENEFITS OF YOUR PRODUCTS

When marketing any product from your business, you need to think about why your customers (new and existing!) would want to buy it. Sell the benefits of the product to them, let them know how it will aid their business and why they ought to buy it. This is much more valuable to the customer and makes it clear to them whether the product can help them.

 

4. GIVE YOUR AUDIENCE WHAT THEY WANT

As we’ve already established a little earlier on, you need to understand your audience. Through doing this, you know exactly what they want, meaning that you can give this to them. For example, if you know where their business is struggling, or what they’re looking for, you can help them and advise them on what you can provide. Furthermore, this could even be as simple as posting blog content that is focused on a particular area they’re interested in and want to know more about.

 

5. DON’T LIMIT YOURSELF TO ONE PLATFORM

Every business is different. This means that not every business works with the same marketing techniques. You should open yourself to all opportunities out there, such as social media advertising or Search Engine Optimisation (SEO – a way to get your website seen on the first pages of search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing). If not using paid advertising techniques, just make yourself present on all of these platforms. For example, you could set up social media accounts for your business and use this to interact with existing and potential customers.
